Mikao Usui:

Master / Sensei Mikao Usui (15 August 1865 - March 09, 1926) is Founder Reiki. He was born in Japan, lived in the Meiji era Empire. Usui Sensei's teachings is well known as Usui-do (The way of Usui), whereas the method as it is called Usui teate (Usui Hands of Healing). In Japan, many universities are based on the teachings of Usui Sensei as Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkaii and Hayashi Reiki Kenkyu Kai use the word "Reiki" to refer to the "spiritual energy".

Many Reiki practitioners in Japan who call the system that they learned as "Ryoho" (methods) or "Reiki Ryoho (Reiki method). When this system began to spread in the United States (1938), there were confusion in the call as a Reiki energy and Reiki as a system / method of healing.
